    The New Machiavelli: How to Wield Power in the Modern

    The pages have the shade of worn brown, like they were left too long in the sun, and they feel old.Also, Machiavelli favored republican(the classical kind, not the neoconservative kind) over despotic princes, and felt that the people were the only ones wise enough to handle government. The book, divided in twelve chapters, is themed on twelve advices from Machiavelli.In the middle the book gets bogged down in details around the British elections of the late Edwardian and early George V period, which are quite tedious when viewed from the perspective of 100 years later.
